As a mother I have had the privilege of giving birth to 5 children.
With the birth of each child I was filled with love and thankfulness for their beauty,
their health and the awe of their little features from their little nose, mouth and ears,
to their perfectly formed hands and feet.
Because I am mother I reveled in the joy of bringing each new baby home,
swaddling them, cuddling, kissing, caressing and being filled with the love
I had for them from the moment I felt them move for the first time.
Because I am a mother I will always be able to go through the files of my memory
and find the joy I hold there forever because I have lovingly tucked each of them away.
I'm thankful I can share these emotions and feelings I have...
Because I am a mother.
But what about someone who hasn't felt the joy of being a mother?
Is it possible for them to capture the essence of a newborn baby?
Is it possible for them to really FEEL the love for a baby?
I was surprised when Hannah brought this poem home to
give to Tracey for her baby shower.
"FROM the first day they come, to their birthday;
THEIR first laugh, to their small feet, to when they cry,
we'll always be there by their side.
THE special little feet that we touch, the little hands that they
use to touch you.
WITH their first little smile it makes you want to burst
for joy;
BUT the specialist of all is when you will give baby Charley
her first little kiss, and forever will you, to the day you die
LOVE your little bundle of joy."
- Hannah Walker -
Maybe I'm just bragging.....
Because I'm a mother.

I had to read that over and over. I can't get over how beautiful that was for someone that 1. is not a mother yet and 2. is in ELEMENTARY SCHOOL?!?! That was just amazing and precious all at the same time.
I noticed for the first time a Hannah I'd never seen before. It was the day that Ethan broke his leg. I could see how Hannah felt so bad for him. She didn't know where her place was, being that this was Kristi's first boy friend but she stood or sat close to Kristi and I could tell in her actions that she cared and wanted to comfort Ethan but the only way she knew best, was to comfort Kristi! I never saw anything so cute in my life then I saw in Hannah that day!! So for her to write that peom doesn't surprise me. (The wording surprised me but the feeling didn't) She is special and has a big caring heart. (Like Cara)
Gulp. I've had a rather emotional afternoon, and this is hitting an even softer spot than the very soft spot it would have ordinarily hit. The poem, the post it's nestled in, the girl the mom....beautiful, and I cherish that you shared. As for the depth and talent of the poetess...look at Cara, look at the Mama...look at the women in your family. So blessed!
I'm CRYING! We wont just blame it on the pregnancy, either, because that poem was AMAZING! What a sweet thing to write to Tracy. She could frame that and put it in the baby's room! I LOVE that she used the word "specialist"!! SOOOO cute!!! Tell her to write me a poem! ;)
