Can We Keep Him?

It's bound to happen in almost every child's lifetime.....a stray animal wanders into their yard and there's an instant attachment - in hope's that mom and dad will let them keep this poor unfortunate animal.
I believe most of you who read this will know that the area we live in is very wild as far as animals go....by that I mean - coyote's, bobcat's, hawks, and even an occasional cougar sighting.
Call me a fool, or call me tenderhearted.
I couldn't allow this dog to roam the streets and become a meal for the coyote's. We had just witnessed (two nights prior) our neighbor's dog being snatched and had to listen to the poor thing being carried away down the hillside.
So after keeping him in the garage for 24 hours Hannah and Cara gave him a flea dip/bath and then of course the next step was talking us into letting 'him' sleep in Hannah's room with her. Dad said "yes, but Monday we're calling the pound - we will not have a dog"!

GUESS WHAT - We now have a dog!

I may be sorry I caved in; in fact it's likely I will be sorry. But right now we have a very happy little girl. I couldn't bear to watch her cry as the pound carried the dog away. So far she has been very responsible - we'll see how long that lasts.

Awww! Hannah sure does look happy with that dog in her arms! It must have been VERY disturbing to have heard your neighbor's dog being taken like that... that makes me feel sad. I cant wait to meet the little guy! What's his name?

Keep an eye out for "Lost Dog signs" He looks healthy and loved. Maybe he came from an elderly home whom misses their little Cocoa and now he is lost.

You know what this means... after Cocoa finds his real home you'll be making a trip to Pet Smart to find another "Cocoa"

Is he house broken?

Yes, I told Hannah if we see any "Lost Dog" signs we would have to return him. He didn't have a collar on and he had fleas when he showed up so I'm thinking more like someone opened the door in hopes he would leave. And yes, he is house broken.

Oh My GOODNESS!!!! That is so fun for Hannah. Katie was just telling me yesterday that when she gets older she wants 1000 dogs. I told her that would be kinda (gross) hard. and then she said "100?" I said, "still too many, but maybe you could have three". She seemed just fine with 3. Phew... much better than 1000!!!!
Ella just came in with a smashed snail... better run!
Have fun with that cute dog!
